Burger Theory has taken over the Kongs of King Street kitchen! Come find us in our Bristol home 7 days a week. We’ll have our usual tasty selection of burger recipes but you can expect specials, sides, and desserts as well!

If the burgers aren’t enough to get you into Kongs then how about their epic beer offering, selection of old-school arcade games, table football and ping pong table!

The Golden Lion

Burger Theory has a long history with The Golden Lion and this autumn we re-open our kitchen at the finest pub and music venue in Bristol. Come find us serving up our creative burger recipes, seven days a week, in the Bishopston area of Gloucester Road.

The Golden Lion also offers regular live music, ‘rock and roll bingo’ and one of the best pub quizzes in the city!

Our favourite games bar has moved to Cardiff and we are along for the ride!

We now take online bookings for table reservations!

If you’d like to book a table at one of the Burger Theory locations then you can do so with this form. Bookings are not final until you receive an email confirming them. Please keep an eye on your email inbox after you have submitted a request.

We can only take bookings up to 24 hours in advance to ensure the best service for our customers. If you need to amend the booking after that time then please use the contact number in the email you receive.

We regret to say that we cannot take bookings for Friday and Saturday nights at Kongs of King Street. We do still accept walk-ins, so why not pop in and say hello!

This is what it’s all about for us. This is a small selection of our delicious epic burger menu!

The Cheese Theory

6oz beef and bacon burger with melted smoked cheddar, gherkins, mustard mayo and Burger Theory’s own tomato relish.

The Don

6oz beef, bacon and pepperoni patty infused with garlic, chili and fresh oregano. Topped with pizza sauce and melting mozzarella.

The Southern Bird

Chicken breast in a spiced crispy batter. Topped with melted cheddar & onion rings. All smothered in tomato and jalapeño relish.

The Ghengis Carn

Crispy aromatic lamb with pickled carrot, cucumber, spring onions and soy. Topped with ginger and honey lamb jus.

The Wild Thing

Wild boar, venison and apricot patty with tasty sharp cheddar. Served with delicious salsa verde.

The Blue Cow

Beef and jalapeño patty with mouth-watering melted Stilton and Burger Theory’s own tomato relish

The Beefy Boy

Slow cooked beef short rib smothered in black pepper glaze. Served with home-made coleslaw and pickled cucumber.

The Southern Hippie

A southern fried portobello mushroom topped with fried halloumi. Then drenched in Franks hot sauce and blue cheese dressing.


We travel the length and breadth of the country serving up tasty creative culinary creations. We visit music festivals, food-fairs and fetés all over this burger loving nation.

Our Story

Burger theory was founded by friends Rory Perriment and Oliver Thorogood, two very creative and enthusiastic burger chefs! In 2012 we started experimenting with different recipes and discovered there are hundreds of ways you can make a burger.

We decided that we would be ‘The Creative Burger People’ with no limits to what can and cannot go in to a burger. With the menu set we started taking our delicious culinary creations to festivals and food fairs around the country. We can now be found at weddings, street food events, music festivals and running pop-up kitchens in Bristol.

Whether it’s at our home in Bristol or on the road at one of Britain’s many food and music festivals, we love to make new friends – so come say hello. Lets see if we can put a burger in your mouth and a smile on your face!


It’s official, we will be in residence at Kongs of king street for the foreseeable future! Here is a little video of the incredibly exciting moment when our logo went up on the wall!

Burger Philosophy

Our philosophy at Burger Theory is simple…

Good food doesn’t need to cost the Earth

We try to run our business with one key philosophy. We believe local is better. Better for the economy, better for the environment and most importantly – fresher. With the help of our suppliers we source some of the finest produce the south-west has to offer.

We work closely with Walter rose butchers and local farmer Tim Johnson at Stokes Marsh Farm, Close to Devizes. They supply us with our beef from his herd of outstanding Aberdeen Angus and Hereford crosses. The beef is hung to reach its optimum level of maturity, has enough fat between the muscles, and is marbled within to give both great succulence and flavour.

John Sheppard supplies us with 100% British Red Tractor certified meat. The Proper Bread Bakery provide our fresh bread from their traditional bakery. A.David supply us with local fresh vegetables and our all British dairy products come from Ashton Farms.

0% of our food is produced using GM produce, MSG or unsustainable food products like palm oil. We recycle as much as possible and only use compostable packaging.

We encourage people to take a break from meat by offering a range vegetarian and vegan burgers. It works too! Over 22% of our customers eat our vegetarian burgers!

We try to reduce our carbon emissions as much as possible. We use only clean burning gas to fuel our kitchen and use our van as little as possible.
